Even in the middle of a pandemic, Australians are investing in what counts for their energy supply. The solar boom has continued with consumer confidence increasing in 2020 compared to 2019.
Kane Thornton, chief executive of the Clean Energy Council, said the momentum was coming from State Government initiatives, with confidence in Queensland increasing on the confidence level from 5.6 to 6.8.
Green Energy Markets has tracked a record 1357MW of new rooftop solar photovoltaics between January and June 2020, which is 40 per cent higher than the same period in 2019.
Tristan Edis of Green Energy Markets said “We keep hearing about a possible COVID-19 slowdown – but it hasn’t happened. It’s a major uptick on last year – which was a stellar year.”

If the pace continues? “By 2025, Australia will have more installed solar capacity than the country’s coal-fired power.”
